Designing Change Experiments
Traditional change management is too slow and rigid for today’s fast-paced organizations. This workshop will help you break free from outdated methods and start experimenting with change in real time. You’ll learn how to craft practical, low-risk change experiments that lead to faster feedback, better decision-making, and real business impact. Bring your change challenges, and we’ll help you design experiments to tackle them.

Experimenter
Who it's for
• Change agents who have a change challenge and feel stuck. You'll work on real problems. • Experienced change practitioners who are looking for a better approach for handling uncertainty.
Why attend
• You'll work on real problems with a group of your peers. • You'll use our ExperimentR tool and be able to get help from our AI Robot, Mr Zurkon.
Session 1: Noodling in the problem space
Einstein said that if he had 1 hour to solve a problem, he'd spend 55 minutes thinking about it and 5 minutes on the solution. In this session you'll work on gathering insights to gain a better understanding of the problem.
Session 2: Generating Options
If you have 1 option you have no options. If you have 2, you have a choice. If you have 3 or more, now you're talking! Thank you to Jerry Weinberg for that one. This session is about generating options and deciding what tradeoffs are to be made.
Session 3: Crafting Experiments
Once you've had a chance to try you experiment in the real world, we'll review the outcomes in this session and decide what's next. After you've completed all 3 sessions, you'll earn your Experimenter badge and be eligible to join a private Q&A session with Lean Change founder Jason Little to get more feedback about your experiments!
Session 4: Reviewing Your Experiments
Attendees will use the Lean Change ExperimentR tool to create experiments. This session will be used to review the experiments.
Curriculum
What you'll learn
Crafting Experiments
Many change initiatives fail because they’re designed as big bets instead of small, adaptable experiments. In this session, you'll learn how to design experiments that test change ideas quickly and iteratively, using the Lean Change ExperimentR tool. You'll create your own experiments and define success criteria, so you know when to pivot, persevere, or abandon an approach.
Adapt & Iterate
Change experiments are only useful if we learn from them. This session focuses on analyzing experiment outcomes, interpreting feedback, and deciding what comes next. You'll review real-world case studies, reflect on your own experiments, and learn when to nudge vs. disrupt the system to create sustainable change.
Exploring Options
“If you have one option, you have no options.” This session focuses on broadening your perspective by generating multiple ways to approach a challenge. You’ll use structured techniques to reframe problems, identify trade-offs, and expand your range of possibilities—ensuring you don’t lock into a single solution too early.
Exploring the Problem Space
Einstein said if he had one hour to solve a problem, he’d spend 55 minutes understanding it and 5 minutes solving it. In this session, you'll learn to pause, observe, and diagnose change challenges before rushing into solutions. Through interactive discussions, you’ll uncover the deeper patterns, assumptions, and resistance points that influence change in your organization.
What to expect
This 4 session experience will take you through gathering insights about your change challenge, generating options and crafting experiments using our ExperimentR tool, guided by a Lean Change Facilitator
