Welcome to "Beyond Frameworks: Sense-making for Transformative Change," a 16-hour intensive workshop designed for experienced agile coaches and organizational change management practitioners.

This course will immerse you in the 6 Big Ideas, providing you with practical tools and strategies to drive real change in your organization. Through interactive activities and small group breakouts, you will explore each concept in depth and apply them to real-world scenarios, receiving valuable feedback from your peers.

The 2 Change Strategies of Effective Organizations

  • Optimization vs. Evolution: Learn to differentiate between optimization, which focuses on improving existing processes and practices, and evolution, which involves changing underlying beliefs and behaviors. Discover how to apply both strategies to meet your organization’s unique needs and goals.
  • Applying Strategies in Practice: Engage in exercises that will help you identify where optimization is beneficial and where a more transformative approach is required. In breakout sessions, you'll work with peers to develop plans that balance these strategies for maximum impact.

The 5 Universals of Change

  • Purpose over Urgency: Explore how aligning people around a shared purpose can create more sustainable and meaningful change than fostering a sense of urgency. Learn techniques for identifying and communicating a compelling purpose within your organization.
  • Co-creation and Experimentation: Practice co-creating change with your team instead of imposing it from above. Through hands-on activities, you'll experiment with new approaches and learn how to iterate based on feedback and results.

The 5 Levers of Change

  • Comprehensive Change Levers: Understand the five key areas—People, Processes, Technology, Strategy, and Structure—that influence change in your organization.
  • Learn to identify which levers to pull and when to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Integrating the Levers: Participate in group activities that challenge you to apply these levers to real-world problems. In breakout rooms, you’ll work with peers to develop and present integrated change plans that address multiple levers simultaneously.

The 3 Agilities of Effective Organizations

  • Change, Leadership, and Delivery Agility: Learn the importance of developing agility across these three dimensions.
  • Discover how change agility helps individuals and teams adapt quickly, leadership agility enables distributed decision-making, and delivery agility ensures effective execution.Building
  • Agility Across the Organization: Through interactive exercises, you’ll assess your organization’s current agility levels and develop strategies to enhance them. Breakout sessions will allow you to share your findings and receive feedback on your approach.

  • Understanding the Waves: Gain insights into the five waves that characterize the stages of transformational change, from superficial thinking to deep personal reflection. Learn how each wave builds upon the previous one to create lasting change.
  • Navigating Through the Waves: Engage in activities designed to help you identify which wave your organization is currently in and how to progress to the next level. Work in small groups to develop and present strategies for moving through these waves effectively.

  • Self and Stance: Explore how your personal beliefs and behaviors impact your effectiveness as a change agent. Learn techniques for self-reflection and developing a stance that supports positive change.
  • Big Ideas and Tools: Discover the mental models and practical tools that can help you facilitate change.

Interactive Activities and Breakout Sessions

Throughout the course, you will participate in various interactive activities designed to reinforce the 6 Big Ideas. These activities will include:

  • Hands-On Exercises: Engage in practical exercises that allow you to apply the concepts discussed. These exercises will help you internalize the ideas and understand how to use them effectively in your work.
