Perspective Map vs traditional thinking

Two different assumptions about how change should work.

Lean Change

We must understand the perspective of the organization, leaders, and people in order to move change forward.

Traditional Change Management

It doesn't matter what people think about the change, sponsors want it so we have to push it through.

Perspective Mapping is a technique for creating alignment for change. It's important to understand what the change means from a variety of perspectives because, as much as we don't want to believe this, change is an exercise in compromise.

Typically leaders want something to change because a need isn't being met. That might mean results aren't where they want them, competitors are passing them, or dare we say, bonuses aren't being generated due to missed targets and performance management.
